The third season of Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) was halted in 2021 after an alleged altercation between Christall Kay, Brinette Seopela and DJ Tira’s wife, Gugu Khati. It is reported that Seopela and Khati will not be part of the new season while Kay said she doesn’t know anything about a third season.

In April, it was reported that Christall Kay was seeking legal advice after allegedly being attacked by Gugu Khati and Brinette Seopela. A source told Sunday World that the fight began when Kay made “nasty comments” to Seopela, pushing Khati to jump in.

A different source claimed that Khati had been involved in a separate altercation before.

“Don’t be fooled by Gugu’s glam, she can be a straatmate. She once attacked my friend in a club, accusing her of flirting with DJ Tira,” said the source.

It was further reported that Christall Kay was in the process of laying charges against Khati.

“She did this when I was sitting down and there was no threat to her.” I have evidence to prove this. She is scared over what she has done and is trying to make out a case against me,” said Kay.

Although M-Net’s channel director of local entertainment channels, Nomsa Philiso said RHOJ will not be returning, the popular reality show has been renewed for the third season. Brinette Seopela and Gugu Khati will not be a part of season three.

Christall Kay told City Press that she doesn’t know anything about the new season highlighting that she was shocked that new cast members had been approached.

“I don’t know anything about the new season. I only attended two pre-production meetings with different production houses about my role in it last year. I wasn’t aware that they were busy with the new season.”

Seopela said she would not be in the RHOJ season three for “personal reasons” while Khati refused to comment highlighting she did not want anything to do with the show.

The publication also notes that businesswomen Natalie Hlahla and Terisa Hsu-Lee who appeared on Madam and Mercy would be on RHOJ season three. Malusi Gigaba’s ex-wife Norma Mngoma had also reportedly been considered for the new season but she declined the offer.

“They also approached me to be in the first season, but I declined as well,” Mngoma added.

Businesswoman and television presenter Lethabo “Lejoy”  Mathato and Lebo Gunguluza will both be returning to RHOJ.
