In 2019, Gomez reigned supreme as the undisputed queen of Instagram. But she was quickly dethroned by songstress Ariana Grande, who lost against Jenner.

After disappearing from the limelight amidst health and mental health struggles, Gomez is back and better than ever.

They are not calling her the “Queen of Instagram” for nothing.

Taking to Twitter after Gomez booted Jenner to second place, fans rejoiced and sent the actress and singer messages of love.

“And everything is once again right in the world. The queen is back on her deserved throne!” a fan wrote.

“This women has been one of the most influential women of all time. Regardless of the amount of bad times she has had, she has also given us so many good one’s. We love you Selena!,” another added.

“Selena is a true role model. She’s suffered a lot, and she’s a woman who doesn’t try to be others. She’s been herself from thick and thin. She’s been a great role model for younger girls too. Kylie unfortunately is just another Kardashian copy.,” a fan wrote.

TROLLS ARE MEAN AND COMMENTS HURT

Although fans love her, social media can take a toll.

In a recent interview with Vanity FairGomez said she has decided to step back from social media. She now only has TikTok on her phone.

“People can call me ugly or stupid, and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time,” she said in an interview with the publication.

“There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories.”

“But usually that’s filtered through [for me now]. I created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging.,” she added.

Gomez told Vanity Fair that she created a “system” where an assistant is a barrier between her and the comments. The assistant also posts on her behalf.
