Nsikelelo Mthiyane debuts in ‘Sibongile and The Dlaminis’

Newcomer Nsikelelo Mthiyane debuts as Sibongile Mbambo in season two of Mzansi Wethu’s ‘Sibongile and The Dlaminis’.

Newcomer Nsikelelo Mthiyane replaces Luyanda Zwane as Sibongile Mbambo in fan-favourite TV show, Sibongile and The Dlaminis.


TVSA confirms that the rising star, Nsikelelo Mthiyane will lead the cast of Mzansi Wethu’s Sibongile and The Dlaminis.

The publication adds that this is Mthiyane’s first TV role. She is from Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal and studied at the Durban University of Technology.

She also loves sports and is an avid follower of women’s cricket and soccer. 

Zwane who played the first Sibongile in season one took to social media this week to congratulate Mthiyane for her new role.

“Congratulations for this new chapter. I can’t wait to witness you thrive in it,” wrote Zwane on her Instagram story.


The Sibongile and The Dlaminis actress Luyanda Zwane confirms her departure to Zimoja. She also reveals that she completed her season one obligation, when asked why she left.

“I chose not to renew my contract for season two after completing my season one obligations,” she adds.

Zwane, who previously starred in Redemption and Miseducation secured the leading role of Sibongile Mbambo in July 2023.

Zwane’s character, Sibongile Mbambo, is an innocent rural young woman who is forced to leave her family and dreams behind.

The fan-favourite character is a domestic worker in the lavish mansion of the affluent Dlamini family.

The show is set in the small town of Ixopo in KwaZulu-Natal and explores timeless themes of love, sacrifice, ambition, and familial bonds.


The Citizen reports that Sibongile and The Dlaminis, which stars Luyanda Zwane, is now the most-watched show on Mzansi Wethu.

The telenovela which set a new record and surpassed the 2.6 million mark in viewership is also the most-watched TV show on DStv.

Nomsa Philiso, who is the CEO of general entertainment at MultiChoice, congratulated the cast and confirmed season two of the telenovela.

“This is a cause for celebration and a clear indication of the love and appreciation that our viewers have for Sibongile and The Dlaminis.”

Philiso adds that the telenovela is the combination of good scripting, casting, and overall production, which makes it a pleasure to watch.

She also thanks their middle and mass scripted team for the show. She also hopes they will see more growth in viewership numbers in season two.

MultiChoice has renewed the Mzansi Wethu telenovela for a second season, which premieres on 29 July.
