Love is love, and as South Africans we express our love in multiple languages and a variety of ways. Showmax has curated seven of the best shows and movies to stream to keep you in the mood for the whole month of love.

1. ‘SEX IN AFRIKAANS’ – STREAMING ON SHOWMAX FROM 14 FEB

In the groundbreaking 18SNLV documentary series Sex in Afrikaans, four Afrikaans couples and two singles, with the help of clinical psychologist Bradley R Daniels, will speak openly for the first time about their sex lives and in the process discover there is much more fun to be had!

“I didn’t think anything could still shock or surprise me,” says narrator Rian van Heerden, who is also producing through Provoco. “But I can tell you, while we were filming this series, we could hardly believe what we were hearing! I honestly didn’t think I was conservative and then I realised that I was actually still a little conservative,” reads the synopsis.

2. ‘NO LOVE LOST’ | STREAMING ON SHOWMAX FROM 14 FEB

What’s the worst thing that can happen to you on Baecation? Amahle (Hope Mbhele) gets surprised by her boyfriend Dumisani (Lungile Radu) with a getaway for their one-year anniversary. At the resort, she bumps into her ex-boyfriend Lwazi (Pallance Dladla), on vacation with his current girlfriend Azania (Zola Nombona). This leads to a series of unavoidable double dates where the exes begin to question whether their feelings are really in the past.

No Love Lost is the feature film debut of director Phiwo Mkhanzi (House of Zwide, Isibaya), produced by Minnie Dlamini-Jones’ production company, Beautiful Day Productions.

She receives a life-changing prophecy about who she’ll find her happily ever after with: a man with the surname Dlamini. But will Pearl follow her heart or the prophecy?

5. LOVE, LIES & HYBRIDS

Jessica and her lover, Sophia, look forward to a mountain escape for a few days before New Year’s Day, while Jessica’s environmental activist fiancé, Daniel, is away at a conference.
