There are various ways to make time pass during the lockdown with our lives being slowed down since 27 March. One way is finally being able to keep up with new releases from musicians.
Each of these five albums have an eccentric feel to them and will leave you putting them on repeat.
Pretoria-based hip-hop producer Dooushi is the man behind producing this incomparable body of work. He features artists, such as Tyson ST, Thato Saul and ROHO on his album.
ThandoNje’s Frequency displays a smooth and soul tune in her album and can easily be enjoyed on an easy warm afternoon.
Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes teamed up to construct this easy-to-listen-to 45-minute album. Their alternative sound can be enjoyed by young and old.
Bamako is far from any of Dana’s previous releases. For her fifth album, she collaborated with Malian afro-pop singer-songwriter Salif Keita on the writing credits and travelled to Bamako to record the album.
Well worth a listen, especially for the older generation who have kept up with Simphiwe Dana’s music since 2004.
The Scorpion Kings have released a 15-song compilation of fresh amapiano songs. This gives everyone enough time to sharpen their best dance moves just in time for the end of lockdown (whenever that might be…).
Once upon a Time in Lockdown features Adrienne Foo, Bontle Smith and Shasha to name but a few of the artists.
