After a government minister had her interview time cut short due to load shedding live on air, it was a matter of time before the video got its very own TikTok remix.

‘Oh No!’ Lindiwe Zulu hit by load shedding

Yes, Head of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu was plunged into darkness during her appearance with SABC journalist Vuyo Mvoko. Now, a remix that focuses on her ‘oh no!’ reaction, is going viral on social media.

The South African previously reported that Zulu had initially appeared on The Watchdog, one of SABC’s flagship programmes, to discuss the progress made by her ministry – which has overseen a turbulent rollout of the R350 pandemic relief grant. Sadly, the message got lost alongside the electricity supply, and Zulu’s time to shine was abruptly brought to a halt.

Some believe the remix with the song, Oh no no no no by Capone was already playing in their heads when they saw the original video.

A Remix

The song which is popular on TikTok, saw the video rack up more than 15 000 views as of 14 June.

Going viral

Meanwhile, a Namibian sports anchor named Jessica dominated Twitter trends after she called out her female news anchor, who had crossed back to her during a live broadcast of NBC News Live, an evening news programme in the country.

While South Africans continue reacting to the awkward on-air moment caught on live Namibian television, some have been curious as to what may have led to that viral incident.

Journalist Vauldi Carelse has cited a source who told her our dear Jessica was unhappy with her employer after being told she’d only be earning half her salary at the end of June.

“So my Nambian connection just told me Jessica had just come from striking, her salary was cut and she is getting only half pay again this month. NBC workers have been on strike for a while now about poor working conditions and low pay,” she said.
