ESCAPE IN THE KAROO!

The Klein Karoo Klassique’s artistic director, Hugo Theart is inviting everyone to breathe in the music and enjoy the escape in the Klein Karoo.

“Without the support of the Rupert Music Foundation over the past eight years, Klassique would not be possible. Join us in Oudshoorn for a summer celebration by the country’s top musicians with a programme that includes something for every taste,” Theart told Cape Town Etc

According to its website, the Rupert Music Foundation was founded in 1984 to promote classical music in South Africa and to educate the general public about its cultural value.

THE RECITALS

There are four recitals lined up for the Klein Karoo Klassique. The classic music festival will kick off on Saturday 27 November. Guy Buttery and the Gqeberha quartet will be performing at the Oudtshoorn Burgersentrum at 10:00. Award-winning pianist Nina Schumann will be performing at 15:00 on the same day, at Oudtshoorn Burgersentum.

The day will end off with the Sunset Concert featuring Renee van der Westhuizen on the second violin, Emile de Roubaix on viola, Dane Coetzee on cello and Petrus de Beer on the first violin. They will be performing at Karusa Vineyards.

The four musicians will perform music from musicals, well-known film music and classic adaptations of popular modern hits.

The last recital of the festival is titled A Baroque Christmas. Members of the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra will perform Christmas music from the Baroque period. Baroque is an artistic style that started in Rome. The recital will take place on Sunday 28 November at 11:00 at the Oudtshoorn Burgersentrum.
