It’s been almost a month and DJ Black Coffee is still struggling to come to terms with the death of his close friend Virgil Abloh.

The SA DJ and the fashion designer struck up a firm friendship together. They also worked together on a number of professional projects.

And now Black Coffee is using his talent to pay tribute to the star who secretly battled a rare form of cancer.

BLACK COFFEE REVEALS VIRGIL ABLOH TRIBUTE

Taking to his Instagram, he posted a touching tribute to Virgil Abloh who died at the age of 41.

He wrote: “We didn’t do all we wanted to do,but you alone selflessly did enough to inspire generations to come. Even though you are physically gone, your passion, love and light will shine through forever. I and many others will carry this spirit in everything we do”.

A FRIENDSHIP BASED ON ART, MUSIC AND FASHION

Black Coffee and Virgil Abloh were not only friends but also industry colleagues.

The duo DJ’d together in various events – including Music Is King – as well as working on both art and fashion projects together.

In 2018, Black Coffee announced he would be building a music, art and fashion school in Johannesburg, designed by Virgil Abloh.

And in 2019, the designer launched a fashion capsule collection honoring the DJ’s influence on his own career.
