AMA QAMATA ON FILMING THE KIDNAPPING SCENES

Actress Ama Qamata revealed that shooting the kidnapping scenes for the third season of Blood & Water was challenging. Qamata plays the role of Puleng Khumalo, who gets kidnapped on the third season of the hit Netflix series.

The character has a much more serious role this season compared to the previous two and Qamata explained that it was frustrating at first.

“It was not easy, it was challenging for me because I always had to be focused and it was such a traumatic thing that was happening. Well, from her being kidnapped, most of Puleng’s journey this season was in a pretty dark place,” she said in an exclusive interview with The South African.

“I was trying so hard to be traumatised and picture myself being kidnapped but that has never happened to me. So, it was like frustrating as well, to like understand how to do that. I think once I like surrendered and like let the story move me, it was the best break through I had. I think I connected with myself in a very deep way and with Puleng and I’m so glad that the writers trusted me with such a serious topic,” she continued.

THE ‘BLOOD & WATER’ STAR ON HER ‘SERIOUS’ CHARACTER THIS SEASON

When asked what her favourite behind the scenes moment from shooting this season was, Qamata said that this season was really serious for her character. So, she didn’t have the time to really enjoy anything.

This was because she was still in character after the director calls cut.

“I think when we just get to hang out, like the cast that’s always special. We enjoy doing that with each other. This season was like so serious for my character. So, I didn’t have time to like enjoy any(thing). When they called cut I was still in that zone of like trying to focus, not like enjoy myself too much”
