The Easter long weekend has kicked off and you’re probably relaxing and taking a much-needed break. If you’re planning on spending your days in front of the television, we’ve put together a list of six movies to watch.

SIX MOVIES FOR YOUR EASTER BINGE

1. ‘HAPPINESS EVER AFTER’

Happiness Ever After is the first local film on our Easter binge list. This romantic comedy is the sequel to the 2016 film, Happiness Is A Four-Letter Word. This Netflix film starring Khanyi Mbau, Nambitha Ben-Mazwai, Renate Stuurman follows three woman in Johannesburg who go through a rollercoaster of love, friendship and sisterhood.

2. ‘DON’T LOOK UP’

Directed by Adam McKay, Don’t Look Up stars the likes of Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Timothée Chalamet. This Oscar-nominated film follows two astronomers who go on a nationwide media tour to warn the world about a comet heading to earth. 

The film was nominated for four Oscar Awards including Best Original Screenplay.

3. ‘I CARE A LOT’

British actress Rosamund Pike leads this thriller-comedy film. The Emmy-winning actress plays a legal guardian who lands in hot water after trying to blackmail an elderly woman who has ties to a powerful gangster.

4. ‘TRIPPIN’ WITH THE KANDASAMYS’ 

Directed by Jayan Moodley, Trippin’ with the Kandasamys is a hilarious local comedy. Shot in Kwa-Zulu Natal, this Netflix film follows two close friends who are on a mission to get the romance back in their relationships with their husbands. 

Trippin’ with the Kandasamys is full of laughter, perfect for the entire family’s Easter movie binge.

5. ‘LET THEM ALL TALK’ 

Directed by Stephen Soderbergh, Let Them All Talk is an American comedy-drama film that sees an author who goes on a cruise with her two closest friends and her nephew. Along the way, she discovers a few truths about her past.

6. ‘FAST & FURIOUS 9: THE FAST SAGA’

Last on our Easter binge list is Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga, the ninth instalment in the Fast & Furious series. Dom (Vin Diesel) comes out of retirement when a dangerous cyberterrorist resurfaces with the help of his his estranged brother Cipher (John Cena). 

The film is available to stream on Showmax.
