‘THE WIFE’: WHO KIDNAPPED NALEDI?

The South African was on Sunday, 6 November invited to watch the first episode of The Wife season three with the cast and crew. Here’s some spoilers from the first episode from Naledi kidnapping, Nqoba’s disappearance, Sambulo and Mandisa’s return, and more.

Season two ended with Naledi being kidnapped … we see an upset Naledi in season three’s trailer being driven by strange men. It turns out she was kidnapped by her father Kgosi (Sello Motloung) men. From what we know, Kgosi doesn’t want Naledi and Qhawe together because he’s been planning for her to marry Sefako (Stoan Seate). Sefako is reportedly a successful businessman who will fight for Naledi throughout season three.

Qhawe will track her down, according to season three trailer, and get captured himself by Naledi’s father…

‘Honestly, he shouldn’t have gone there without his brothers in the first place…he was outnumbered.’

SAMBULO AND MANDISA’S RETURN

Viewers of The Wife will be glad to know that fan-favourite characters Mandisa (Zikhona Sodlaka) and Sambulo (Sipho Ndlovu) will return this season.

Season two ended with fans throwing eggs at Mandisa for betraying the Zulus and for getting Sambulo ‘killed’ by the Majolas.

We predict fans are going to find Mandisa and Sambulo’s reunion just as funny … she’ll be both shocked and relieved to see he made it out of the explosion.

The Zulu brothers will be equally shocked to see Sambulo as they ‘buried’ him in season two and believed he was dead.

‘Let’s be honest, The Wife fans never actually believed Sambulo was dead, as his funeral was just off… not believable’

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE NEW MQHELE AND TSHIDI

Former The Queen actress Motsoaledi Setumo revealed in an interview with The South African that viewers of The Wife are going to have a love-and-hate relationship with her character Tshidi, who is Naledi’s sister.

Setumo also tells us that her character is married and that her husband is played by Thapelo Aphiri (who currently plays Javas in Scandal!) and that her father Chief Kgosi is an overbearing parent.

“Tshidi will not be hooking up with any of the Zulu brothers.”

Wiseman Mncube, who joined the third season as Mqhele Zulu reveals in an interview with The South African that he’s bringing his own Mqhele version in the telenovela.

“I was skeptical at first when I received the role as this is my first time replacing an actor. When I received the script, I read, understand, and listen without imposing.”

“My goal is not to let Bonko Khoza down, I want to make him proud, the viewers proud, and myself proud.”

WHERE IS NQOBA?

Award-winning actor Abdul Khoza, who plays the character of Nqoba Zulu in the hit telenovela was nowhere to be seen in episode one of The Wife. Everyone kept asking Mandisa where he could be and the first episode ends without Mandisa’s explanation.

City Press revealed in October that Khoza allegedly exited the telenovela.

“The future of award-winning actor Abdul Khoza remains uncertain as rumours continue to do the rounds that he will not be part of season 3 of the popular telenovela, The Wife. City Press has learned that Khoza, who plays the part of Nqobizitha Zulu – for which he won the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Award – has left the show. This comes a few months after he shared a cryptic message in an Instagram post bidding farewell to the role, and then later deleting the message.”
