Sibongile Mtyali ‘blames presenters for her Kaya 959 axing’
Former Kaya 959 boss Sibongile Mtyali is reportedly blaming presenters Sizwe Dhlomo, Phemelo Motene and Gugulethu Mfuphi for her dismissal.

‘Fired’ Kaya 959 station Manager Sibongile Mtyali reportedly revealed that the station’s senior presenters Phemelo Motene, Sizwe Dhlomo, and Gugulethu Mfuphi are the central reason she got dismissed in November.

‘SIBONGILE MTYALI FILES APPLICATION TO REINSTATE POSITION’
According to Sunday World, the former Kaya 959 manager Sibongile Mtyali claimed in court papers that she was fired after presenters Sizwe Dhlomo, Phemelo Motene and Gugulethu Mfuphi filed complaints about her to the station board.
Actress and radio personality Phemelo Motene hosts Point of View, while business anchor at CNBC Africa Gugulethu Mfuhi hosts Kaya Biz, and Sizwe Dhlomo hosts the Kaya Drive at the stations.
It is reported that Mtyali, who previously managed Metro FM filed an urgent application at the Johannesburg Labour Court this week as she wants an order to force Kaya 959 and its board chairperson Sizwe Mncwango to reinstate her as the station manager.
The publication adds that Mtyali was head-hunted by Kaya 959 board in June 2021 to turn the station around. She was instructed to eradicate favouritism, boost staff morale, grow sales, draft budgets, and more…
Mtyali was reportedly shocked when the abovementioned presenters accused her of poor performance in a letter sent to her back in September of this year.

‘SIZWE DHLOMO ACCUSED ME OF FAVOURITISM’
The popular station manager Sibongile Mtyali also revealed to Sunday World that radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo accused her of favouritism.
“Mr Dhlomo had accused me of treating another presenter Mpho Maboi with favouritism because she was allowed to arrive at work at a time that was contractually one hour later than other presenters.”
The axed station manager denies this is favouritism but a condition to recruit the sports presenter Mpho Maboi.
“I thought it’s ironic that in June 2022 I appeared before the board and was accused of giving Mr Dhlomo more favourable terms on his contract when I increased his financial benefits by 13% more than his peers. I stood by that decision too because I had exercised my discretion to achieve my stated objectives for the success of Kaya FM. I was acting deliberately and in the interest of Kaya FM in both decisions.”
Sizwe Dhlomo previously told City Press that Sibongile Mtyali’s termination was not solely based on his complaint and adds that his complaint came from Maboi’s refusal to join the routine 12 pm meeting with the team:
Sizwe Dhlomo and Phemelo Motene declined to comment on the matter when contacted while Gugulethu Mfuphi said she’d seek counsel from the station.
