South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA announced that he bagged an acting gig in his friend Alessio Bettocchi’s film Nandi via a tweet on Tuesday 2 November.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday 2 November, AKA announced that he will be making a cameo in his friend Alessio Bettocchi’s film Nandi. The Fela in Versace hitmaker shared the trailer on Twitter and Instagram, where he is seen acting alongside Scandal star Lorcia Cooper. Rapper Riky Rick is also a part of the film.

“Check out the trailer ???? for “NANDI” … produced by none other than my homie Alessio Bettocchi ???????? . Congrats on your first film champ! Looking forward to seeing it! And oh yeah … peep your boi’s like a cameo too! Had lots of fun shooting it. COMING SOON! ????,” wrote AKA on Twitter.

Following his new music and his return to peforming on stage, AKA seems to be healing from the death of his fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe. While in Cape Town with the rapper, Nelli plunged to her death from the tenth floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on 11 April.

This left many divided on AKA’s involvement in the death of the 22-year-old. While many believed his side of the story after he mentioned the number of times Nelli was suicidal, others thought AKA was “acting” in his interview with eNCA journalist Thembekile Mrototo.

The film was also selected for the Durban International Film Festival.

“An experience I won’t forget. Proud of the outcome!” wrote Bettocchi on Instagram.
