DJ, musician and music producer Murdah Bongz (real name Bongani Mohosana) headed to Instagram on 17 October to show off his shiny new Cobra convertible with racing stripes.

He captioned the post “Today, I took a drive for you” to which DJ Zinhle – his famous wife with whom he shares a one-year-old daughter, Asante – gave a tongue-in-the cheek reply.

The 35-year-old Black Motion member who boasts an estimated net worth of R84 million, does not seem to have any brakes when it comes to splurging on luxury cars. This latest addition to his impressive car collection, appears to be a Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Convertible.

Porsche Taycan

One of Murdah’s cars is a black Porshe Taycan which is estimated to be valued a whopping R3.2million.

Mercedes-Benz G Wagon

Murdah also owns a gold Mercedes Benz G Wagon which is estimated to be around R1.8-million. In 2021, a video of the musician speeding along with baby Asante in the Merc, caused a stir.

Rolls Royce Ghost

According to Zalebs, the talented muso also reportedly owns the limited edition Rolls Royce Ghost, valued at R2 million.

Spoilt for choice…

Apparently Murdah also has a soft spot for German whips. Savanna News has previously reported that several BMWs are also parked in his garage. Judging by his vast collection, this garage is probably bigger than the home of most South Africans!

Murdah Bongz: Fame and fortune

According to Briefly, popular house music duo Black Motion was formed in 2009. It did not take long for Murdah and Thabo Mabogwane, aka Smol, to rise to fame and fortune with their 2011 debut album, Talking to the Drums.

In 2014, the two artists were back with a bang with Fortune Teller, which earned them a South African Music Award (Sama) for Best Dance album.

Black Motion has also collaborated with various big names in the industry, including Prince Kaybee, Shimza, Ami Faku, Djeff, Brenden Praise and Sho Majodzi.

Black Motion split slammed

In April 2022, speculations did the rounds Black Motion had split and that Murdah and Smol would be working on individual projects going forward.

In a statementthe duo set the record straight, refuting claims that they had split. They explained that the only changes were that Murdah had changed his name to MÖRDA and would be launching a deejaying career while Smol would be embarking on his own business. 

Despite the solo projects, the duo assured their fans that Black Motion would still continue to work together.

DJ Zinhle and Murdah Bongz tease new single

IOL reported that DJ Zinhle teased a minute-long snippet of a new single featuring Nkosazana Daughter on her Instagram Reels at the beginning of October.

Judging from DJ Zinhle’s praise for Murdah in the caption, it could very well be a solo track under his new moniker, Mörda.

“Morda/Asante loading.. You’re amazing @nkosazana_daughter! Great work daddy @murdahbongz,” DJ Zinhle captioned the clip.
