Metro FM announces 2023 lineup, Somizi joins Khutso Theledi

Metro FM has announced their 2023 lineup and confirmed Somizi will join Khutso Theledi on ‘The Bridge’ and co-host ‘The Weekend Breakfast’.

Radio and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo has returned to Metro FM as Khutso Theledi’s co-host on The Bridge after exiting the SABC radio station in 2021.

SOMIZI MHLONGO CO-HOSTS ‘THE BRIDGE’ WITH KHUTSO THELEDI

The Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo confirmed on his Instagram account that he’s joined the SABC radio station as Khutso Theledi’s co-host on The Bridge.  

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela also announced that the fan-favourite radio personality will also co-host Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good on Saturdays with Matt Elle. 

The media personality returns to the airwaves following Mohale Motaung’s abuse claims.  Sunday World reported in August 2021 that he requested time off from the SABC radio station.

An insider from the SABC radio station informed Zimoja on 9 March that discussions regarding his radio comeback began in 2022 and were done cautiously to avoid media backlash.

METRO FM 2023, 2024 LINEUP

According to the SABC, the commercial radio station’s 2023 and 2024 lineup will commence on Monday, 03 April 2023. 

DJ Sabby will take over the Breakfast Show Monday to Friday between 06:00 – 9:00 from Khutso Theledi, who will take over The Bridge from Mondays to Fridays between 09:00 – 12:00 with Mhlongo. 

According to the channel, DJ Sabby will be joined by one of South Africa’s dynamic and influential stars, Kandice ‘Kandice Kardash’ Coulsen.

Siya Mhlongo will host a new show Command Your Day that will broadcast on Mondays to Fridays from 05:00 – 06:00. Faith Mangope will host ‘Metro FM Talk from Monday to Thursday from 19:00 – 21:00. 

“The station is also excited to launch its new digital offering Metro FM Off-Air, to be presented by Ayabonga Cawe and will flight once a week”, said the station.
