Fan-favourite South African actor Abdul Khoza has reportedly joined Netflix’s hit series Kings of Joburg season three.

TshisaLIVE reports that award-winning actor Abdul Khoza may have joined the latest season of Kings of Joburg.

A source reveals: “He is blending well with the storyline, and other cast members, plus he is versatile when it comes to switching to venac. His character can be confused with a white-collar criminal.”

Another source reveals: “The show is in production. Most people thought the show would never return after the untimely death of the lead actor and producer Shona Ferguson soon after season 1 premiered.”

Khoza revealed to the publication that he needs to speak to his bosses, as he’s not allowed to talk about anything regarding the show.

This comes after producer-actress Connie Ferguson took to her Instagram on Monday, 1 April, to confirm the filming of third season.

Ferguson shared a message from Netflix which read: “Welcome to the start of production on Kings of Joburg S3!’ We’re so happy to be working with you!”

Kings of Joburg was created by Connie’s late husband, Shona Ferguson, who portrayed the role of Simon Masire in season one.

Connie, the cast and crew of the show previously dedicated the show to Shona who passed away from Covid-19 in July 2021.

“We lost him, so we paused everything. I didn’t even know whether I’d have the strength to continue with Kings of Jo’burg because it was a Sho project. He was so passionate about this baby.”

“First of all, I didn’t wanna let him down, and I didn’t know if I would have the strength to do it without him because he was a big part of it.” she said in the interview,” she said.

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald reports that the former Scandal! Clink Brink has also joined Kings of Joburg.

Brink will star alongside actress-producer Connie Ferguson who portrays Veronica Mosire alongside Zolisa Xaluva as Mo Mosire.

Seasoned actors Thapelo Mokoena, Thembi Seete, Cindy Mahlangu, Nnekwa Tsajwa, Buhle Samuels, TK Sebothoma and Altovise Lawrence appeared in previous seasons.

It appears Ferguson will team up with showrunner Samad Davis in season three, as she tagged him on her Instagram story in April..

“The Masires, haunted by a supernatural family curse, find themselves tangled in a web of betrayal that threatens to destroy the family in this riveting new season.”

“The eight-part, action-drama series picks up from a successful first season which saw fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods, and a deal with the devil”, reports The Citizen.

Ferguson also appeared as a Masire Mermaid in season one before her role as Veronica in season two.
