Wrong envelope! Five memorable moments from the Oscars [watch]

Actors, actresses, musicians and high-profile figures are gearing up for the 94th Oscar Awards set to take place on Sunday 27 March at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. What better way to get ready for the Oscars than to take a look at some of the best moments from over the years? Here are five Oscar moments we’ll never forget.

1. THE ‘LA LA LAND’ SAGA AT THE 2017 OSCARS

The 89th Oscar Awards in 2017 were going smoothly until the Best Picture award was announced… American actors Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty had the honour of announcing the Best Picture winner that evening. 

Beatty was reading the winner for the award when he looked confused, so he handed the card to his Bonnie and Clyde co-star, Faye Dunaway. She announced La La Land won the award but to her surprise she was given the wrong envelope…

The La La Land cast and crew had to step off the stage and make way for the cast and crew of Moonlight who were the actual winners!

2. JAMES FRANCO AND ANNE HATHAWAY MADE THINGS A BIT… AWKWARD 

In 2011, James Franco and Anne Hathaway co-hosted the Oscar Awards, but sadly for them, it was a miss for many viewers. According to Marie Clare, some even referred to it as “one of the worst Oscar telecasts in history”. 

Even when James Franco put on a pink dress and Hathaway put on a tuxedo, things did not look up for the two hosts.

3. ADRIEN BRODY KISSES HALLE BERRY AFTER WINNING BEST ACTOR

Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award for his stellar performance in The Pianist at the 2003 Oscars. Halle Berry announced him as the winner and as Brody took the award from Berry, he gave her a big kiss! 

Berry admitted that the kiss was unplanned but she was definitely shocked!

4. JENNIFER LAWRENCE’S AWARD-WINNING TRIP AT THE 2013 OSCARS

At the 2013 Oscars, Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. While walking up the stairs with her stunning dress, Lawrence tripped and she took a moment before getting up.

American singer and actress Auli’i Cravalho performed How Far I’ll Go from the animation film, Moana at the 2017 Oscars. Things took a bumpy turn when she almost got hit in the head but she kept on singing!
