The nominees for the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday 12 July with Succession scoring 25 nominations. Content that is available to stream on Showmax is up for 108 awards with the Zendaya-led Euphoria and Yellowjackets also scoring nods. 

Here are a few series to stream ahead of the Emmy Awards.

‘SUCCESSION’

Succession followers four rich siblings who try everything to win their father’s approval and control of his company, a media and entertainment empire. The series has been praised as “the best showcase of performance on television”. 

This year, season three of Succession is up for Outstanding Drama Series and lead actors, Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, are up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

‘THE WHITE LOTUS’

The White Lotus is the most-nominated limited series at the 2022 Emmy Awards. The series is set at a Hawaiian resort over one week where the lives of travellers and hotel employees are transformed after something reveals itself. 

The series is nominated for 20 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Limited Series and actress Sydney Sweeney, who is best known for playing Cassie Howard in Euphoria, scored a nomination for her role.

‘EUPHORIA’

In 2020, American actress Zendaya became the youngest recipient of the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award. This year, she has made history as the youngest nominee for a producing award as Euphoria is up for the Outstanding Drama Series Award. 

Euphoria is nominated for 16 Emmy Awards and Zendaya is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series while Sydney Sweeney is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

‘BARRY’

Barry is Rottem Tomatoes’ Best Series of 2022 so far and has been nominated for 14 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series, Cinematography, Casting and Directing. The series co-creator, Bill Hader, is nominated for Outstanding Leading Actor and won the award in 2018 and 2019. 

The series has been hailed as “a masterpiece” and has received a 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

‘YELLOWJACKETS’

Yellowjackets follows now-adult survivors of a plane crash who were stranded in the Canadian wilderness in 1996. The coming-of-age drama has received nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Directing, Writing and Casting. 

Malenie Lynsky, who plays Shauna, has been nominated for her first Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

‘WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS’

What We Do In The Shadows is based on a 2014 cult movie and is the brainchild of Emmy-nominee Jemaine Clement and Oscar winner Taika Watiti. The series follows four vampires who have lived together for hundreds of years. 

Season three of What We Do in The Shadows is nominated for seven Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy, Writing, Costumes and Stunt Co-ordination.

‘STATION ELEVEN’

Station Eleven follows the survivors of a devastating global pandemic who attempt to rebuild the world. The 10-part series is based on the 2014 novel by Emily St John Mandel and has received a 98% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 

This year, the series is nominated for seven Emmy Awards including Directing, Writing, and Cinematography. Actor Himesh Patel is nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series.

‘CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM’

Season 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm has been nominated for four Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series, Casting, Sound Mixing and Guest Actor. The series has a 94% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 

The series stars Kaley Cuoco, Jon Hamm, Ted Danson, Tracey Ullman, Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson.

‘INSECURE’

Actress, director and writer Issa Rae received her third nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy category for her role as Issa in Inscure. The comedy series is also nominated for the Cinematography and Editing Awards. 

Season five of the series has a 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes where the show has been hailed as “a fully confident comedy”.

‘RAY DONOVAN: THE MOVIE’

Ray Donovan: The Movie picks up where the seventh and final season of where the Emmy-winning series left off. The film is nominated for an Outstanding Television Movie Emmy and has received an 87% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 

The series stars Emmy-winning actors Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall and Katharine Moenning.

‘SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE’

Scenes From A Marriage star Oscar Isaac is nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series at the 2022 Emmy Awards, marking his first nomination.  The series is a remake of the 1973 Swedish miniseries by Ingmar Bergman and explores themes of love, hatred, desire, monogamy and more. 

The series is written and directed by award-winning director Hagai Levi and has received an 83% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
