Starting your own business is an ideology that most people have; however, getting down to actually registering it is one step that sees many entrepreneurs take 10 steps back.

WITH OR WITHOUT CAPITAL REGISTRATION IS DOABLE

Those with the luxury of capital can render the services of a business developer or consultant to register your business; however, if you’re on a tight budget – the following steps may get you up and running in no time.

HERE is the list how to start your own business:

  • Go online to the website of CIPC and register a new company for R175. Registration is R125 and the name is R50.
  • Go to SARS, do a tax clearance for free (book an appointment to avoid waiting in line).
  • Open a business bank account. Most banks have “starter” accounts with monthly fees of less than R500.
  • Go to your nearest Seda, and ask them to do a business plan for you, for free – Plus other training that might be relevant to your field.
  • Go online, register on the CSD, for free.
  • Go to your municipality and ask them to register you on their database as a supplier, for free.
  • Go to your nearest NYDA, attend their financial management short course for a minimum of 5 weeks (once a week), for free.
  • Apply for the NYDA funding for free. They can give you equipment for up to R50 000.
  • You don’t pay it back.
  • Hire people and register for COIDA, Letter of good standing at the Department of Labour.
  • Professionalize your business with: Logos, letterhead, business email, website, landline.
